Beta-1,3 Glucan™ (β-1,3 Glucan) is a polysaccharide of D-glucose monomers linked by β-glycosidic bonds. One of the most common sources of β-1,3 Glucan for supplement use is derived from the cell wall of baker’s yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Yeast derived β-Glucan is notable for its ability to modulate the immune system via stimulating, for example, antimicrobial activity by binding to receptors on macrophages and other white blood cells and activating them.
